1. Operation Data

Internal number: OB_013
Operating regime: Algorithmic Transformation
Source image: Video

Operational description:
A video of the object is recorded with movement and zoom to achieve motion blur and image deformation. Then, in the Premiere video editor, the resolution is compressed multiple times to destroy the image, and the contrast is turned up so that the color is not lost.

2. Tools and Procedure

Tools / medium:

  • iPhone 13 camera
  • Macbook Pro 13
  • Adobe Premiere

Script (2026-09 audit): Not applicable (operation performed in Adobe Premiere, manual tool without code export).

Technical procedure:

  1. Video is recorded
  2. Image is worked on in software

3. Variables

Controlled variables:

  • The video shot, movement, and zoom
  • Light and scenography

Uncontrolled / accidental variables:

  • The colors that become saturated in the image; one could try to understand them, but it would be difficult.
  • Where the image will distort.

6. Crisis and Formal-Perceptual Reading

Main crisis: Form, color, and background

The operation affects the visual grammar of the image: form, contour, color, figure/ground relationship, legibility, recognition, and support.

The image begins to enter crisis when the figure melts and mixes with the other forms. The colors change from what was represented, become saturated, and blend together.

7. Final Evaluation and Artistic Reference

Operation notes / what I learned:
Lowering the quality doesn’t work as an operation on its own; you just have to intensify colors and brightness so the image doesn’t turn black and white. Edges need to be readjusted. It is a rich operation, but it has to be forced and modified to gain richness.
